Okay, I admit it: my notes for this day are…nonexistent. And since this trip was in April – and since I’m writing this in June – it’s going to be nearly impossible to give a detailed play-by-play. I promise to be better in September! In any case, a few observations, a lot of photos, and some closure on another great trip to WDW.
As recollection serves our plan this morning was not to run ourselves ragged by checking out early, heading to the Studios for rope drop, and then hustling to the Polynesian for our 11am Kona Cafe reservation. Instead we decided on a more leisurely pace, grabbing breakfast in the lounge, packing our stuff, and heading to the Studios to grab a FastPass for TSMM. To say that we were sad to leave the BoardWalk would be a tremendous understatement; as we packed up and headed to the parking lot, I was already scheming about ways to get us back to the BWI on our fall trip.
Luggage checked in for our flight, we left the BoardWalk and made the short drive to the Studios. As I recall we grabbed our Toy Story FPs and then decided to brave the standby line so we could get two rides in. We did some aimless wandering in the Studios – sadly, this park doesn’t really capture our attention anymore – used our FPs, and then decided it was time for a proper meal. We tried Kouzzina at the BoardWalk but they had just stopped serving, so it was off to Downtown Disney for a quick sandwich at, where else, the Earl of Sandwich.
The remainder of our day was spent at Epcot, where agenda item #1 was to take in as much of the Flower and Garden Festival as possible. We browsed leisurely, snapping photos, and stopped in Club Cool so that I could drink approximately six hundred tiny cups of Mezzo Mix. We took a gander at the wares in Mouse Gears, and then decided to make one last circle tour of the World Showcase, taking in the flowers and topiaries. We also had our second Kaki Gori of the weekend, which we enjoyed sitting in a quiet shady spot in the Japan gardens. Before we knew it time was running out, and so we made our way to the front. Oh! We also stopped at Epcot Guest Relations to renew our Annual Passes – it seems to be tradition to do all of our AP business at Epcot – and we did a bit more pin trading before heading out.
Our next stop was at the Starbucks near Vista Way for a snack and an iced beverage. In typing this it dawns on me that maybe we didn’t go to Earl of Sandwich for lunch – this is why one should always take copious trip notes! In any case, our final stop in central Florida was at the Orlando Premium Outlets, where we browsed the Character Premiere store, hoping to score some discounted pins or other fun Disney merchandise we’d never want to pay full price for. Sadly, nothing captured our interest – I’m going to admit here, internet, that I was briefly tempted to buy a HUGE Duffy that was on sale for maybe $15 bucks. There’s something about castoff stuffed animals at an outlet store that makes me sad, even when said character is…Duffy. Temptation resisted though.
With the sun setting we knew it was time to head back to MCO, drop off the rental car, and join the Southwest cattle call for our flight home. Speaking of Southwest, we were both distracted by our wonderful California Grill meal the night before, and thus didn’t check in exactly 24 hours ahead of time. So, by the time we remembered – midday on Sunday! – we ended up well at the end of the B boarding group. While all ended up okay, this added some stress to our pre-flight time, as our flight was FULL of cheerleaders, college baseball players, and high schoolers. Not gonna lie, some bourbon was purchased on our flight, and my headphones never left my ears. (Well, except for the time when the flight attendant gave some sass to a troublemaking baseball player – THAT was entertaining!). So, not the best or most relaxing flight, but we made it back to chilly Connecticut, headed home, and started counting down the days until our next trip. We are addicts indeed.
Now, for some pictures!
